8 Years of Excellence: Delight Technical College’s Journey From 2018 to Today

In 2018, a vision was born on Muindi Mbingu Street in the heart of Nairobi: a college that would prove creative skills could transform lives. Eight years later, Delight Technical College has grown from that vision into one of Nairobi’s most respected creative institutions and one of the most exciting TVET colleges in East Africa. This is our story.

🌱 2018- The Beginning

Delight Technical College opened its doors in 2018 with a focus on tailoring and fashion design. The founding conviction was simple but powerful: creative skills, properly taught in a supportive, professional environment, can open doors that academic qualifications alone cannot. The first cohort of students experienced first-hand that this was true.

📈 Growing Into a Creative Institution

In the years that followed, Delight expanded steadily and deliberately adding new programmes, building new facilities, and attracting students from across Kenya, East Africa, and beyond. The college grew from a tailoring school into a multi-disciplinary creative institution with two full schools:

• The School of Tailoring, Fashion & Design
• The School of Media & Artificial Intelligence

🏛️ Accreditation and Recognition

A landmark moment in Delight’s journey was achieving full TVETA accreditation- Registration Number TVETA/PRIVATE/TVC/0080/2022. This formal government recognition validated the quality of training that students and alumni had always known. It also meant that Delight certificates, examined by CDACC and NITA, carried full national credibility.

🚀 The Vision- Still Alive

Eight years in, the founding vision to be Africa’s leading hub for technical, creative and entrepreneurial excellence is more alive than ever. Delight’s facilities are more advanced, its programmes more comprehensive, its alumni network stronger, and its reputation better established than at any point in its history.

But the most important measure of Delight’s journey is not facilities or accreditation, it is the students whose lives have been changed. The tailor who started with a Trade Test and now runs a thriving business. The filmmaker who produced their first short film at Delight and is now working on a feature. The fashion designer who showed their first collection at a Delight runway and is now selling internationally.
