By Delight Technical College | Career Readiness | 2026

Technical skills will get you the interview. Work ethics will keep you the job and build the reputation that defines your career. At Delight Technical College, work ethics and professional practices are not assumed, they are explicitly taught as part of the Level 5 curriculum. This is one of the most underrated but critically important modules in our fashion programme.

📋 About the Module

  • Module: Work Ethics and Practices
  • Level: 5 | Term: Four (Module IV)
  • Total Hours: 40 | Hours per Week: 4

🌟 What Is Work Ethics?

Work ethics refers to the values, behaviours, and attitudes that define how a person approaches their professional responsibilities. It includes:

  • Reliability- showing up, delivering on time, honouring commitments
  • Integrity- being honest with clients, colleagues, and employers
  • Professionalism- maintaining appropriate conduct in all workplace settings
  • Accountability- taking responsibility for your work and your mistakes
  • Respect- for colleagues, clients, and the workplace environment

📚 What You Will Study

Professional Conduct:

  • Appropriate workplace behaviour and dress code
  • Communication etiquette (email, phone, and in-person)
  • Time management and meeting deadlines
  • Working with difficult clients and challenging situations

Industry Standards:

  • Quality standards in fashion production and delivery
  • Client confidentiality and professional discretion
  • Intellectual property- respecting others’ designs and ideas

Business Relationships:

  • Building long-term client relationships
  • Managing supplier and contractor relationships
  • Networking professionally within the industry

💡 Why This Module Matters

Employers and clients consistently report that the most common reason they stop working with a creative professional is not lack of skill, it is lack of professionalism. Poor time management, inconsistent communication, and unreliable delivery damage reputations faster than any creative shortcoming.

At Delight, we make sure our graduates are not just skilled, they are the kind of professionals that clients trust and recommend.

“Your skills get you the first client. Your work ethics get you the next ten.”
