Building a Lasting Legacy: The Delight Education and Creative Talent Endowment Fund

Over the past eight years, Delight Technical College has trained hundreds of students across two schools Tailoring, Fashion and Design, and Media and Artificial Intelligence. Our graduates work in fashion houses, media studios and startups across Kenya and the region. They are launching their own ventures, teaching others, and proving that technical excellence and creative innovation thrive when access meets opportunity.

Now we are taking a step to ensure that mission endures for generations to come.

We are launching the Delight Education and Creative Talent Endowment Fund– a permanent financial foundation designed to secure and scale the impact we have built.

Why an endowment?

Endowments work differently from year-to-year giving. Rather than funding today’s needs, an endowment secures tomorrow’s. The principal remains invested; only the earnings are deployed each year. This means Delight can commit to long-term scholarships, equipment upgrades and lecturer development without the uncertainty that comes with annual fundraising cycles.

A donation is spent once. An endowment gift works every year, indefinitely.

Who benefits

Students in that position, first-generation learners, young people from underserved regions, those without family or professional networks in the creative industries are exactly who the endowment protects. Talent and potential are not currently enough. The endowment removes the barrier that sits in front of them.

What the endowment funds

Earnings from the Delight Education and Creative Talent Endowment are directed to:

• Scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, so that talent determines access rather than circumstance
• Student innovation through competitions, exhibitions and prototype development
• Equipment and technology that keeps our fashion design and media studios at industry standard
• Lecturer development, so our trainers stay current in emerging practice
• Entrepreneurship grants that help graduates launch ventures and create jobs across East Africa
• Expansion of training facilities to reach more students across Kenya and the region

Building Africa’s most inclusive hub

Delight’s vision is to be Africa’s leading hub for technical, creative and entrepreneurial excellence. The endowment is how we protect and expand that.

It funds scholarships for students across East Africa, not only Nairobi. It supports research and innovation in African fashion technology and media. It makes access to world-class training the norm rather than the exception.

How the fund is protected

• Endowment capital is held separately from the college’s operating accounts and is not available to meet running costs.
• Only investment earnings are spent. The capital is preserved in perpetuity.
• The fund is governed by a written investment and disbursement policy, overseen by the college’s board.
• Accounts are independently audited annually.
• Named funds receive a personal annual report: capital position, amount disbursed, and beneficiaries.
