Across East Africa, Tanzanian women are stepping into the spotlight as fashion entrepreneurs, stylists, and designers—many of them with skills honed at Delight Technical College in Nairobi. From Arusha to Dar es Salaam, their designs are gracing runways, weddings, and Instagram feeds alike.

Here’s how Delight has become a launchpad for Tanzanian women making bold moves in fashion:

💃 From Students to Style Icons

  1. Neema – Arusha
After completing her Diploma in Fashion Design & Garment Making at Delight, Neema returned home and opened a boutique called Neema Couture. She now designs custom bridal gowns and traditional wear and recently showcased her collection at a local fashion expo.

“Delight didn’t just teach me how to sew—it taught me how to build a brand.”

  1. Asha – Dar es Salaam
Asha specialized in tailoring and entrepreneurial skills. Today, she runs an online shop, Asha’s Threads, selling ready-made dresses via WhatsApp and Instagram. Her clients include celebrities and businesswomen in Tanzania and Kenya.

“My instructors helped me turn my passion into profit. I learned how to price, market, and deliver quality.”

  1. Zuhura – Mwanza
Zuhura enrolled in a short course in advanced pattern drafting. She’s now training young women in her community while managing a small tailoring hub with two employees.

“I came to Delight to sharpen my skills, but I left with confidence—and a plan to help others.”

🎓 What Makes Delight a Powerhouse for Women in Fashion?

  • Practical, hands-on training in design, sewing, and business
  • Supportive learning environment that empowers young women
  • Modern equipment and expert instructors from the fashion industry
  • Courses tailored for both full-time students and short-course learners

🌍 Impact Beyond Borders

Delight-trained Tanzanian women are now:

  • Exporting clothes to Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda
  • Partnering with NGOs and women’s groups to teach tailoring
  • Organizing fashion shows and pop-up shops in Tanzanian cities

💬 A Word from the Graduates

“Delight gave me a sisterhood and a skill set. Now I’m not just designing clothes—I’m designing my future.”
– Neema, Delight Alumna
