At Delight Technical College, tailoring is more than stitching fabric — it’s about weaving dreams, building careers, and preserving cultural heritage while embracing modern fashion demands. Our NITA-accredited Tailoring program (Grades III, II, and I) offers a structured, practical pathway for aspiring tailors to grow from the basics to professional mastery.

Why Tailoring at Delight?

Tailoring is a timeless skill that continues to fuel the fashion industry globally and locally. Whether your goal is to start your own fashion brand, join a design house, or serve your community with custom clothing, Delight’s program gives you the tools, training, and industry readiness you need.

Structured Learning: From Foundation to Mastery

Our program is divided into three NITA-certified levels:

Grade III – Beginner Level

Here, students are introduced to:

  • Sewing tools, equipment care, and safety
  • Basic stitches (hand and machine)
  • Simple garment construction (skirts, shirts, dresses)
  • Pattern drafting and layout
  • Fabric identification and selection

This level focuses on confidence-building and gaining control of the tools of the trade.

Grade II – Intermediate Level

Students move into:

  • Advanced pattern drafting and design modification
  • Construction of more complex garments (trousers, blouses, suits)
  • Introduction to industrial sewing techniques
  • Quality control and finishing techniques
  • Customer measurements and fitting skills

Grade II enhances both technical ability and professional polish.

Grade I – Advanced Level

This level is designed for those looking to specialize or lead in tailoring:

  • High-fashion construction techniques
  • Garment correction and alterations
  • Production efficiency and time management
  • Business skills for tailors (pricing, client relations, small workshop management)
  • Preparation for supervisory or mentorship roles

By the end of Grade I, students are ready to work independently, run workshops, or pursue further specialization in fashion design.

Practical-Focused, Industry-Oriented

At Delight, we maintain a hands-on approach. Students spend most of their time in fully equipped tailoring workshops, guided by experienced instructors who bring real-world experience to the classroom. Through practical assessments, fashion showcases, and industrial attachments, learners graduate job-ready.

NITA Accreditation: Your Assurance of Quality

All three levels of our Tailoring program are accredited by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), Kenya’s national body for industrial training. This guarantees:

  • National recognition of qualifications
  • Pathways to licensing and employment in both formal and informal sectors
  • High-quality instruction and assessment standards

Who Can Join?

The course is open to:

  • School leavers
  • Aspiring entrepreneurs
  • Self-taught tailors seeking certification
  • Anyone passionate about garment creation

Whether you’re starting from scratch or upgrading your skills, our program accommodates your learning pace and professional goals.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can work as:

  • Professional tailors and dressmakers
  • Fashion entrepreneurs
  • Alteration specialists
  • Production assistants in fashion houses
  • Trainers or workshop supervisors

Many go on to launch successful businesses, serve local communities, or even venture into fashion design and merchandising.

Join the Seam of Success

Tailoring is a craft of discipline, detail, and design. At Delight Technical College, we help you turn that craft into a career. With NITA accreditation, experienced trainers, and real-world practice, you’ll leave with both the skills and confidence to thrive.

Enroll today and stitch your future with excellence.
