• Understand Fashion Design Principles: Apply fundamental principles of fashion design, including elements of line, shape, color, texture, and silhouette, to create cohesive collections.
• Develop Fashion Illustrations: Accurately sketch and render fashion figures (croquis) and design garments using various illustration techniques and media.
• Identify & Utilize Textiles: Recognize different types of fabrics, their characteristics, and their appropriate uses in garment construction.
• Create Basic Patterns: Draft, adapt, and manipulate basic garment patterns for skirts, bodices, trousers, and sleeves.
• Master Garment Construction Techniques: proficiently use sewing machines and other tools to execute various seams, finishes, closures (zippers, buttons), and hemming techniques.
• Construct Wearable Garments: Successfully cut and assemble multiple garment pieces from patterns to produce finished, wearable clothing items.
• Conduct Design Research: Undertake basic research into fashion trends, historical influences, and designer collections to inspire original designs.
• Present Design Concepts: Communicate design ideas effectively through mood boards, design flats, and basic technical drawings.
