At Delight Technical College, education is just the beginning. For many young people from Burundi, studying at Delight has transformed their future — giving them the technical skills, confidence, and connections they needed to thrive back home and across East Africa. Here’s a look at how Delight alumni from Burundi are turning their dreams into real, inspiring success stories.

🇧🇮 From Bujumbura to Business Owner: Clarisse’s Story

Clarisse came to Nairobi to pursue a diploma in Fashion & Design. After graduating, she returned to Bujumbura and opened her own tailoring studio. Today, she employs three other young women and produces made-to-measure clothing for weddings, events, and boutiques.

“Delight gave me more than skills. It gave me the courage to start something for myself,” she says.

💡 Eric: Using Tech Skills to Train Youth in Burundi

Eric studied Digital Media at Delight. Now, he works with a local youth empowerment organization in Gitega, teaching graphic design and video editing to teenagers from underprivileged communities.

“My goal is to help more young Burundians gain digital skills, just like I did at Delight.”

👩🏾‍🏫 Marie’s Path from Student to Instructor

After excelling in Delight’s hospitality and culinary arts program, Marie secured a role as a trainer at a vocational center in Ngozi. She now teaches baking and food presentation — and dreams of one day running her own culinary school.

🔁 Staying Connected: The Delight Burundi Alumni Network

Graduates from Burundi continue to stay connected through the Delight Burundi Alumni WhatsApp group and occasional in-person meetups in Bujumbura. They share job openings, collaborate on projects, and even help new students prepare for life in Nairobi.

🧭 What Helped Them Succeed?

  • Practical skills: From tailoring to media editing to customer service.
  • Real-world training: Internships and hands-on projects built confidence.
  • Cross-cultural experience: Living and learning with peers from across Africa expanded their horizons.
  • Support after graduation: Delight’s alumni office and instructors continued to offer mentorship and job leads.

🌍 A Growing Impact

As more Burundian students graduate from Delight, the ripple effect grows. They’re creating jobs, inspiring peers, and proving that TVET education can spark real change — one skill, one idea, one dream at a time.

Are you from Burundi and wondering if Delight is right for you? Let these alumni be your inspiration. What starts in Nairobi can grow into something big back home.
